Dutch Kills presents a residency showing of the new physical theater piece, SOLITARY. Originally performed as part of the Loose Leaf Reading Series in November 2016, this residency and presentation is the next step toward a fully developed work.

SOLITARY examines the "prison inside prison" by staging the psychological effects of solitary confinement, an all too common fate for those our society deems unfit. The piece integrates real stories of those who have experienced extended isolation with the abstraction of physical theater, asking why, throughout history and contemporaneously, separation has always remained the greatest punishment.
